Santa Sale

Eight grade students joined together to host the annual Santa Sale to raise money for SCS graduation week events. Gift items, complimentary gift wrapping, and shopping assistance enriched the two day sale which was attended by parents and students alike, making a fun time for all. Colonial Village

Mrs. Scalo's seventh grade students at St. Catherine of Siena School presented a living Colonial Village to parents and students on November 18 in Siena Hall. Students were first required to write research papers about a specific colonial trade. They then demonstrated their trade in a mock Colonial Village, while dressed in period clothing.

Pancake Breakfast

Hotcakes and smiles filled Siena Hall during this year’s annual Pancake Breakfast. Tons of school volunteers and parishioners filled the gym for a delicious morning breakfast.

Fall Clothing Drive

Fall Book Fair

Librarian Mrs. Horan opened the library to students and families hosting this year's Scholastic Book Fair. Many thanks to all the parents that helped make the event so successful!

Fire Prevention

The Cedar Grove Fire Department brought their rig and gear to St. Catherine of Siena School to teach students about fire prevention and safety. Grades preschool through third attended the demonstrations given by the Cedar Grove Firemen.

HSA Back to School Social

 Pastor Msgr. Robert Slipe enjoys spending time with SCS school families on Friday, September 14 at the Home School Association’s “Back to School Social” held in Siena Hall. Kindergarten begins!

St. Catherine of Siena's kindergarten class started its first day today,  Monday, September 10, 2012. Kindergarten student Matthew M. is all smiles and ready to learn from teachers Mrs. Tissot and Mrs. Peters.

School Mass Today

St. Catherine of Siena School will celebrate the first school mass of the new 2012-2013 school year in the parish Church at 11:00am. All are welcome. The liturgy has been prepared by the 8th grade.

Strike Up The Band!

Students and families were treated to a wonderful night of music at the recent school Spring Band Concert held in Siena Hall. Under the direction of teacher Ms. Martha Boughner, students in grades 3 through 8 performed music selections from around the world, playing in three sections: recorders, cadet band, and advanced band.

Cinco de Mayo

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, students at St. Catherine of Siena School utilized technology, music, and culinary skills to make presentations about Spanish culture. Shown above, Natalie D. Grades 4-7 made presentations this past week under the guidance of Spanish teacher Mrs. Janet Gonzalez.

Recently class mothers decorated teacher's doors in appreciation for all they do. Breakfast was also served for the teachers each morning.

Students plant a tree for Arbor Day

To celebrate National Arbor Day, third grade students from St. Catherine of Siena School in Cedar Grove planted a tree recently with the help of Mr. Anthony Latella, of Latella Landscaping, in Cedar Grove. The tree planting was scheduled as part of the class's environmental studies where they are learning about the 3R's - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, as well as gaining an appreciation of the earth's natural resources, including trees.

Easter Passion Play

To begin Holy Week, third grade students from St. Catherine of Siena School in Cedar Grove performed the annual Passion Play  for parents and the student body.

Sports Award Dinner

Recently in March the annual Sports Award dinner for Basketball and Cheerleading was held in Siena Hall. A buffet dinner was served, coaches spoke, and a slide show of the season was presented. A wonderful time was had by all.

Mrs. Viola's second grade class looks to the sun to see what time of day it is while testing out their hand-made sundials.

Prayer and Pizza

Families at SCS participated in the annual Prayer and Pizza on March 16, Stations of the Cross were prayed and then families enjoyed a pizza dinner afterward. Shown above eighth grade student Makenna B.  reads a station of the cross.
